Speedometer help

You guys helped with my last question so i was hoping for some more advice.

I have a 83 Camaro with a speedometer that does not work at the moment. thats one part of a car i do not understand completly and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to where to start looking.

Basically what could cause a speedometer to not work.

Thanks for your help again, you guys are awesome.

You may have a two-part cable with a transducer (for cruise control) between. If so, either cable might be the culprit.
