pleaseeeee help!

okay so yesterday i changed my fuel pump (in tank) and when i turned the key i heard it humming, great! well today i went to finish so i poured in about 5 gallons of gas and went to crank her up. nothing.. then i noticed that my fuel pump wasnt priming. but when i turn the key to the on position the pump just stays on and i can hear it but its not pumping gas. what could this be? would it mean that the pump is working in reverse? could my wires be crossed? any advice is accepted!

Sounds like the wiring may be backwards. Either drop the tank again to switch the wires, or switch them at the external connector somehow.

Either that or you got a bad pump.

You would be switching the fuel pump power and ground wires.

The more I think about it, it's highly unlikely you switched the wires while replacing the pump. You just disconnected the electrical connector from the old pump and attached it to the new pump, right?

Re: pleaseeeee help!

yes the old pigtail plugged right in! ummm i also noticed that now my gas gauge is showing full but its not? but yes the old plug fit right in and u can hear the pump come on now but that's the thing, as soon as i turn the key to the on position it comes on but doesn't go off. it constantly humms and i believe it is suppose to stop after a couple of seconds. there is also 5 gallons of gas in the tank. im stumped
