Removing speedometer cable?
I'm trying to swap guage clusters from my current one with dummy guages to actual guages but I can't get the speedometer cable removed from the cluster to install the new one. Any trick to the removal and reinstallation?
I searched before this post and didn't have any luck.

Is it the threaded kind or a push-lock one?

Thirdgens aren't threaded.

Re: Removing speedometer cable?
I saw that clip yesterday when I was removing the gauges. What I can't tell from the pictures in the post is do I use the screwdriver to pry the clip towards the engine or in towards the gauges. I didn't see this clip on the new set of gauges I have so I'm guessing it's connected to the speedo cable?

Yeah it's mechanical, I made the mistake of buying an electric first so now I have both. My replacement does not have the clip though for some reason.

Re: Removing speedometer cable?
Interesting dilemma. Without the clip, I'm unsure how the cable can be secured to the speedo head. Let us know how everything works out.
EDIT: I stumbled on pics that may be helpful:
