Quick question- What is this sensor?

What is the sensor located between spark plugs 6 & 8 on a chevy 305? I was replacing the spark plugs and my universal joint caught it and broke it

Re: Quick question- What is this sensor?

Is there more than one of those? Because I fixed my temperature sensor on the driver side of the block (between 1 and 3) earlier this year

EDIT: To further clarify, I had no temp on my gauge earlier this year, and when I mended the wire that ran to the sensor (between 1 and 3) I had a working temperature gauge

Re: Quick question- What is this sensor?

is this a FI engine? if so you have 2 temp sensors, 1 for the gauge and 1 for the ecm. the gauge is a 1 wire sensor, the ecm is a 2 wire sensor.

I won't be able to get a picture of it today, but there was a plug on it, I just broke it. I tested and I to have temperature on my gauges. Are both plugs the same type?

Re: Quick question- What is this sensor?

the fan switch should be in the top of the thermostat housing. i think there should also be a knock sensor in the block with the same connector.

It's not a sensor, it's a thermal switch. It's for the radiator fan, turns it on when the coolant gets to 238 degrees F (or something like that) by providing a ground for the fan relay magnet circuit.

Hello ROFLsplash!!

Yes, your local GM dealer has replacement pig tails for sensors like these!!

Also, there is a place called eficonnection.com they should have it also!!

Their website is down until April the 12th, new and improved web site coming!!
