alternator prices/suggestions
ok for a while the camaro wouldnt start and i figured out it was the battery since it was years old so i would just charge it before i would pull it out. anyhow i finally got a new battery and well after that it would start up just fine and all and then a few weeks later it started to kinda take longer to start but i never really though much of it. but then all of a sudden it just would not start a few days ago. so i charged it and it started after that then it sat for 2 days in the garage with no start. and well after those 2days i started it and it had troubles starting up (sounded like it wanted to die) but it started up. then a few hours later wanted to start her again but this time no start. it didnt even sound like it wanted to start at all. so iv tried charging it for a few minutes which usally all it takes but then when i went to start it again didnt wanna start at all it barely turns over at all now. so i tried charging for a bit longer thinking it defintly would start and again no start. so what should i do? do you think its my starter? and if so how much is a new one that will last me for years and will help with cold starts. and are they typically easy to install? thanks.

Re: car wont start and have new battery!
Make sure all the connections between the battery and the starter, and the battery to the block ground are tight and clean. Once that's done, check the battery voltage when it's struggling to start - see if it's losing juice somehow.

cant really see to great in the engine bay but i know the battery cables are tight. anyhow when the key is in the position right before start it goes to the bar between 8volts and 13. but when you try to start it shoots down to the bottom of the gauge.

Re: car wont start and have new battery!
I'd have the battery tested - any AZ or advance tests them for free. I'd also have the alternator tested - again they do it for free. Alot of times, a bad battery can kill an alternator, and a bad alternator can kill a battery.

Re: car wont start and have new battery!
I was having the same type of issues with my TB 305 camaro...my fuel pump was going out...like it didnt have enough ooomph to pressurize the system. After I jumped it forever it would finally fire, then I could start it up all day no problem. But, if I let it set overnight...it wouldnt start. Pain in the *** fix, but I did notice that when I turned the key on, the pump just didnt sound as loud as my other Camaro...kinda nice having 2 side by side!

Re: car wont start and have new battery!
well alot of people on another site said its probaly the alternator. so i took it out an going get it tested tomorrow. if it's that how much should i expet to pay for a new el cheapo one? how many amps is stock? also do i need to torque down the bolts? or should i be fine if i just tighten now and then since she's not driven.
