ok what is going on is it turns over but don't start...Ok what i have checked..

1. checked fuel pressure. good tested 45 pds
2. checked spark.. good
3. had Dizzy mod checked ... good.i even had them test it 10 times in front of me..
4 checked coil... good
5.checked fuel press reg ,,,good
6. checked fuses.all good
7. checked for shorted or bad wires from the dizzy to the ECM,,,NONE
8.CHECKED MAP SENSOR.... GOOD
9 .All my sensors are new AND CHECK GOOD....
10.NO CHECK CODE SHOWING AT ALL....

A member of this site told me to check the purple/white wire from the Dizzy to the ecm..so today i hooked up my ECM safe tester to my battery the turned on the key and tested the wire an my injectors came on...
so i then tried to start it but nothing.....
Now this has happened before .I could not find any problem an let it sit for a couple of days. the went to start it an it fired on the first crank...
So please any an all HELP is appreciated....
This my daily driver an driving my 64 elko HIPO TPI is way to much GAS 10 mpg.....

turn out to be a BAD ECM I LOVE THIS SITE IS HAS SAVED MY BUTT A H#LL'A LOT

 

Wish I could help but Im in the same boat. So for now, Im just using the Tahoe until I figure it out, or until my new engine is built!

 

Can't have all things good or else it would start.
Fuel must be sufficient, but not flooding.
Spark needs to be on time.
Combustion requires a minimum of 80psi.

Question; what is an "ECM safe tester"? I never seen one, who makes it?

 

Maybe it is just too cold out. That is problem with mine. I am 70 miles north of you but it is colder than hell right now

i have plenty of fule pressure,timing is fine.. i said in the thread when i put power to the wire( the purple one for the dizzy that sends singnal to ECM) my injectors come on ,,, i went trhough all the eclec system and found no shorts or bad wires...
The car has always started in cold weather....but my car still does not start..even changed the ECM ,,still will not start...

well the ECM safe tester i bought at napa auto parts.... like it's where i get all my auto parts when possible

Sorry but it has nothing to do with how cold it is out side,,i drove it go snowboarding all last winter,,,so i know it has nothing to do with the weather......

 

Hi, figured i would give my 2 cents.

If you have timeing/airfuel/spark/compression in the proper amounts a engine has no choice but to run.

Check your injector pulse maybe not getting pulse to squirt the gas? Or even maybe squirt a little in the intake and see it it fires then.If it does you know your not getting gas to the motor.

The injectors should get a pulse when cranking have you checked the pulse while cranking?

 

As I just PMed you, I am quite sure your problem is in the ign mod. I have seen too many test okay but still not work correctly in the vehicle. Be sure to test you pick up coil also for 800-1000 ohms.

Your ign module does several things. It has an amplifier that converts the pick up coil signal to a PIP to fire the ign coil. It has a separate amplifier and signal converter that converts the pick up coil's signal into a digital pulse which the ECM uses to control the injectors. This second amplifier is probably faulty. Also, be sure that the dist base is clean where the mod mounts and apply dialectric compound to the bottom of the mod when installing it.

 

A big thanks to asc doc for all the HELP,,, Turns out to be a bad ECM,,,,will be doing a 50 mile road trip tonite to the cruz....

Ok wait a minute. In an earlier post, u put that it wasnt the ecm, and now in a later post you said it was the ecm?!?!? What exactly is up with that? I have the same problem. Replaced the whole distributor, new cap and rotor, new plugs and wires. I have spark and fuel. I checked the timing chain for play and it is fine. I have my timing and all my sensors working and still wont start. It turns just fine tho, so thats what makes me think it may be my ecm. So please clarify my first question for me and also tell me where you got a new ecm and how much it was. Thanks man!
