Will a flywheel off a 91 305 work on a 383 stroker
I recently bought a 383 stroker from summit thats externally balanced. Ive been hearing that 305s are also externally balanced. So i was wondering if this is true or do I need to use a balance plate

i used a 305 flywheel on my 355, no problems that i can tell... if that helps

I tried my 305s plate on my built 406 and it WILL not work! Anything above 350 is externally balenced and you need a plate that is. Anything under350 is interally balanced. Learn from my mistake, I had many problems dealing with this situation. Make sure its an exterally balenced plate!

Good to know. Your referring to flex plates, is it the same for flywheels?

400 engines only came with old style 2 pce RMS cranks which have a different crank bolt pattern to the 1 pce RMS cranks that most ('86+ ) 305's are
Any 2 pce seal (283 / 305 /327 / 350 ) flexplate will fit and bolt up to a 400 crank; whether the balance is correct is a completely different story
