random lack of power accelerating

off and on, while driving

cant figure it out...


is early mid 1990s multi port engine without MAF

and is not a TBI vehicle


there is no engine fault code set in ECM memory other than the normal test 12 code.

the engine(when trying to accelerate and drive it) one second bogs sputters and acts like it is weak on fuel or ignition on all cylinders, it just wont go,,, and then a second later its full power nice smooth and takes off fine all power again.

usually backing off the gas pedal/throttle some will make it clear up and have power back to accelerate fine again, usually.,

things tried and checked:

fuel pressure normal and filter new

02 sensor unplugged

FP regulator unplugged


EGR unplugged

a known good TPS swapped on

removed cleaned the IAC

pcv cleaned is clear good works fine

out of ideas


maybe failing MAP sensor?

CTS?

this one does not have a MAF

its a 1993-1995 MPFI

 

Did you check the fuel pressure while driving it, under a load?
I'd check the grounds, esp. the ecm grounds, might be near the bellhousing or starter.

 

check your tps too.
