Need to order new Oil cooler which type brand

I currently have my stock 88 Iroc Oil cooler. And the top seal is leaking. I cant find the seal anywhere. Im up just to upgrade the complete oil cooler. What brands are there and what's the best.. Shoot me a link or anything.. I want this leak gone. It just get's everything all oil every where. I need it to be clean so I know I dont have any leaks from other places. Any thing good would help something on Summit..

That's just what it is, a normal oil filter ring. Do make sure you get a THICK one, some filters come with thin rings and if you put them in the flange will contact the block before compressing the ring properly and you will have a nice big oil leak.

Not much cooling from that thing. But I'm not sure it's necessary to have any oil cooler for normal street use. I put the cheap Perma-Cool on my '85 in GA, and that was with a Melling M55 standard oil pump. No pressure or flow problems, but inside 6 months the cooler developed leaks. I thought I should have ordered the high-pressure-rated Perma-Cool, at half again the cost, but then I tried running no oil cooler at all, and nothing really changed, except oil changes became less costly.

wow so seems like your best bet was to save your money and just get a standard or none.

You got to be kiding me that's why back when there was Kragen they said an oil filter. I thought they met my oil filter was needing replaced I should have known I only removed it once to look at it an I just put it back in. It kinda looked like a oil filter seal.. Great job you both. Dam you all deserve 10 bucks each

Yes, the reason the kit comes with 3 seals is because GM has used 3 types of oil coolers for the smallblock 86-7 up to the LT1 SBC.

If you need the seal just use your old oil filter gasket or go to a quick lube place and match it up... for free! No need to waste a new filter on it..

I think some oil filter gaskets are a bit taller than the oil cooler gasket and could split open if its used on the cooler IE: that would be like a over tightened filter..

Yeah I think there is the 86-87 maybe through 88 but I think there is a 1le oil cooler also? Then the Alum style? I really thank you all for helping me on this subject. It has not been discussed much. So at least the info is here no for some one that was blue in the face looking for just the single seal, Well look it's been right in front of your face an you didnt even know it. Or heard it from Kragen O riely now oil filter gasket and I was like huh? But no other info was given they never said look your oil filter gasket is the gasket buy a new oil filter an go try it. That's where I missed it.. Thanks So Much Awesome..
