1987 firebird problem HELP!!!

Ok a brief history of the car:bought brand new in 1987 it's a 2.8l v6 mpfi.

Problem sat for 3 years because fuel pump had went out and did not have money to fix so we finely pulled the gas tank and a friend of mine said to clean the gas tank out with muratic acid so we did because there was rust in the tank and it cleaned it out good and we did slosh gas in there after we put the acid in then we put the new fuel pump in and it ran but not real well we could not give it gas(like all the way by just flooring it) so we just slowly reved it and sometimes it would die so we bought a new battery and put it on started first try no problem then drove it down the road and back all is fine then the battery started dieing do we bought a new alternator and put it on now the fuel pump does not come on we also replaced all vacuum hoses and check all the fluids. They all checked to be okay.

We are not sure what happend any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You put a new alt that put out how many amps? Probably fried the pump due to it being not used in so long then all of a sudden alot of amps and voltage came in so it burnt also check fuses and relays

Fuel pump fuse is here. It is located right next to the battery probably mounted on the fender. It looks like a clip going into a ground but its really the fuel pump fuse. I'm sure it could be wired inline also, its easy to spot. 20 amp fuse. Also check your under-drivers-dash fuse panel for appropriate fuses and conductivity. The fuse that also should be checked is on the top row, second from the left. That particular fuse is a 10 amp.
