need some help..
ok so i have a 350 , block # 10054727. an its carb (holley 600) holley intake, has the 193 swirl port heads. now i am on a tight budget, im looking to keep the heads stock because i dont have the money to buy aftermarkets at the moment, im wanting to put a cam it it that will work for the heads, im gonna change the valve springs an timing chain. my questions are, what is a good cam that will work for my heads, i dont know if my block is a roller block, could i use a lt1 cam if its not a roller block? an whats a good set of valve spring and timing chain set?.
this will be my first motor i break down, so any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Any "off-the-shelf" cam that has a lopey idle won't start working until after your current heads have given up. You'd have no low-end thanks to a "lopey" cam, and no top-end thanks to those heads. The airflow has to match the RPM. You can get mild cams to sound mean if you use headers and a decent muffler, but it won't "chop". You wanted something that'll improve performance with the rest of what you have, I can say from experience that this will do very well.

About the heads, I had the same ones on my block originally and from what all I've researched they aren't ideal for performance. I don't know how tight your budget is, but you could probably find some better flowing Vortech heads for a pretty good price.

]The casting for that engine is the same for mine and mine is not a roller block. It is an 86' and up block, 2 or 4 mains, 1 piece rear main seal, "some made in Canada."

Alright. Which is better a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt? And if i got vortec heads would it work with my holley intake? Thanks for the help man.

The vortechs probably won't fit that intake. Vortechs have a special intake style from what I've seen. Do you already have that intake?

Re: need some help..

The top half of the circles, except this is upside down when you look at it, it'll be opposite. This is a 4 bolt as you can see if you look at the 3 in the middle.

Also, what valve seals should i get? The motor set awhile and i know the seals need to be replaced.
