91 z28 wont start

i was driving for about 30 minutes came home for 10 and went to leave again car stalled at end of driveway (never stalled before) recovered, then made it 100 yards and died, pushed it back, thought it was tranny at first scratched that, thought it was sabotaged, no gas but meter was bad, none of those things.

we were trying to get it started yesterday, it starts with starting fluid but you have to keep revving it or it will die, the fuel pump was making a higher pitch noise than normal then today we were going at it and it wont prime at all. i already checked fuse and it was fine but i changed it anyways.

getting paid Thursday lets get back on the road!!!

Check the fuel pressure, then clamp the return line. It should peg the guage. If that checks out, then check the IAC. Sometimes they get stuck.

Re: 91 z28 wont start

right, im waiting on this guy with the auto zone tool that tells you the codes and what not but hes being extremely unreliable hes blown me off on both my days off.

its also not MAF sensor, i mean it could be but when we were keeping it alive revving it my dad unplugged the MAF and it cut off immediately so it seems to still be working.

FUEL PUMP IS NOT PRIMING AND CAR WONT STAY ON

Re: 91 z28 wont start

you know you can check codes with a paperclip right?

rent a fuel pressure test gauge and check what you are getting for fuel pressure,

There's a jumper box somewhere, can't recall off hand, I haven't used mine for 8 years now, but it makes the CEL flash the code. Use search, I'm sure there's a ton of info on here about how to do it.

Re: 91 z28 wont start

did the paperclip thing and it has code 12: no reference pulses to ecm

that paperclip thing is a great thing to know.

so theirs no codes referring to my fuel pump then its the ecm?
what should i be replacing here?
