Starting problem help?
I have been having a couple of problems with my car and been fixing them little by little but this problem has me stuck. I have to spray starting fluid for it could start up but once it starts it runs good. Could it be my fpr?

Re: Starting problem help?
So, your saying your car runs with no fuel pressure? Either i'm crazy...or something doesn't add up here.

Hook the fuel pressure gauge up to it and then get it running and see what it says...you said the car has been sitting for awhile, it may just need a simple tune up.

When?
Pump only primes for 2 sec when key turned on then turns off so you will see no power to the pump after the initial 2 sec burst
Putting 12V to terminal G of the ALDL connector will make pump run fulltime for testing purposes
Check your oil pressure switch is connected and working.
Should make the pump run independent of the computer operated pump relay as soon as engine has 4 psi OP
jumpering the OP switch connector should make the pump run ( to confirm not a wiring problem )

Re: Starting problem help?
Well i got my pump to work now. It was a wire loose from my alarm system. Now i think i don't have sufficient fuel pressure to start up the car because i have to spray starting fluid everytime.

Re: Starting problem help?
You could do what vette said, if you understand him correctly. Or you could get it running by using starter fluid and have the fuel pressure tester hooked up. That would tell you whether or not you have sufficient fuel pressure. Figure out your fuel pressure with the car running and get back to us.

Re: Starting problem help?
Just did that today and my fuel pressure is 35-40psi. My neighbor told me to check my spark plugs so i am going to try that tommorow too.

OK well now my fuel pump is working correcty. But i still have to spray the starting fluid to start up my car. Could it be because I dont have the intake connected I have the MAP sensor 91-92 tpi.

Re: Starting problem help?
Ok well still have this problem now i found out my problem i hooked up a scanner to it and noticed my fuel pump doesnt get any voltage when i flip the key to on position. But when i start cranking it gets 10 volts only. I checked my relay its good also my fuse is this a common problem on this?

Re: Starting problem help?
Correct ( assuming the relay is good )
Probably about right considering the starter is sucking alot of power from the battery .The voltage you see there is probably from the OP switch
Can disconnect the relay and see if you get the same voltage to confirm the switch is working correctly.
Something is wrong because if you have enough fuel pressure to run the engine then you should have enough to start it.
Possibly your injectors are not being fired while cranking over? Have you got a noid light to check for injector pulses when cranking?

OK well today i got some noid lights and found out my problem. Only one side of my engine injectors fire the other side doesnt at all none of them. All of the driver side injectors when i put the noid light would flicker but when i put it onto the passenger side injector plugs none of them flickered could this be a ground?
