At least it doesn't sound like a rod or pin. Sounds like a broken or really loose rocker arm. What are you doing to make it stop for a moment? Are you just revving a little and then it quiets?

Yeah I agree with afremont, not rod related. You won't really know till you pull it apart. Start at the top until you find it. Good luck!

I'd get a stethoscope or long screwdriver and listen to the intake bolts and see if you can narrow it down to one (or even half) cylinder. I think it's likely to be a top-end problem from the sound of it. Sharp tapping noises are usually from the valve train and bottom end troubles tend to sound low and hollow.

Re: Advice needed on engine noise (video)
Thanks for all the inputs guys.
Actually, the noise comes and goes by itself believe it or not. If I rev it then the knock comes on full force. I have used a long screwdriver and a stethoscope and I only really hear it in the top end. Both of the heads but a little louder on the driver side. I put it on the timing chain cover and it was very distant. I also put it on the engine mounting bracket and didn't hear a thing.
I've yet to take a listen underneath.
I've also pulled a spark plug wire one at a time and the tick was still there. I actually plan on pulling the intake off this weekend and see if I find anything. Another note as well. I pulled the valve cover off and started the car, checked operation of rocker arms, push rods and all was well, but very little oil was coming out of the pushrods. Driver side.
It has been doing this for the past 2 months as well.

Re: Advice needed on engine noise (video)
Well a little update.
I took the intake off to find that the plate that goes on the bottom of the intake, was laying inside of the valley and all 4 bolts were scattered in the valley as well, luckily I found all 4 of them. That plate had also rubbed against a few pushrods, but didn't do any serious damage.
But, this doesn't seem to have been the problem. I put everything back together and tried to crank but just got backfire. Had the distributor in wrong so corrected that and she fired right up. Still had that knock/tapping sound and was greeted with chocolate milk oil. This all happened in a matter of seconds given that I had changed the oil the day before. So either a head gasket went or the intake gasket didn't seal right somewhere.
I also noticed white leopard spots on the camshaft. Parts were silver and others it was just white. No specific pattern either. I took out all the driver side lifters and they looked normal.
Safe to say I got a bottom end problem?

Did you change your oil after removing the intake? It's not hard to spill water in the lifter valley when you pry it up.

Oil was changed cause water did get in there. I changed it after I cleaned the valley up and resealed the intake. So my guess is maybe I messed up with the intake gasket somewhere?

Re: Advice needed on engine noise (video)
I did but I don't think I used enough to be honest. I didn't put it on the threads, but put a tad in all the holes, or so I though anyway. And didn't start the car till the next day so it would have had time to cure.
