88' Iroc-Z turns off.any suggestions? thanks

Ok so I recently purchased an 88 Iroc-Z 305tpi and I'm having a problem with the car. Ok so here's what it's doing car turns on with no problem but if left idling for 10-15 mins it just turns off out of nowhere, while driving car again runs great no problems then all of sudden it turns off but starts back up like nothing? Please help. Car has k&n intake, msd coil, not sure on this one but has a sticker saying it has a fastchip. Other than that from what i can tell everything else is stock.

So its stalling? Clean up the throttle body really good. You might have a iac valve thats dirty or going bad.

Could be the ignition module.

usually the ignition module wont let it fire back up easilly once its warmed up a bit, but its worth a shot.

TPS? Hook a Saner up to it or a laptop, should give you everything you need.

thanks for the reply. It does randomly while the car is moving and while I'm at a light. But ill check the IAC or replace it and clean the throttle body while I'm at it

I have a 90 iroc I might just switch over the ignition module and see if it still does it

Yeah thats what I was thinking too, but sometimes people's definition of "fire back up" can vary, and it's not the middle of summer anymore either so it's not quite as hot as it would usually be when they fail.

It's probably NOT the ignition module, you're right, but if the problem grows into something that seems to take a few minutes to resolve itself then the ign module would be the top of the list.

Also disable the egr valve & see if it still acts up. Maybe its getting vacuum at idle sometimes.
