strange clicking inside car when moving?

So yet again I put my 1984 Trans Am here for the reason this time, of a strange clicking coming from the center of the car, I rolled down the windows to see if I can hear it outside too, but I hear nothing its weird, only when the car is driving or if the car if revving really high (2000 rpm) do i hear it.

i took a video while driving to show what i mean

thanks guys!

Look under the car to see if you see anything weird on/around the driveshaft.

Re: strange clicking inside car when moving?

what should i look for?

as an added note, i remember that the transmission mount had gone and would cause the tranny to jump when shifting first gear to second, literally mad the center consle flex to a side. i fixed the mount but i remember seeing some grooves above the drive train on the body, it really concerned me. could my problem be caused by that kind of thing

thanks again

So today while driving my car, I noticed that the noise still stayed when the war was at idle and comes and goes, I'm hoping its nothing major

Thanks again guys

Re: strange clicking inside car when moving?

Check out your U-Joints..sounds like it could be the one that comes right off the end of the transmission. a bad U-joint can cause noises such as these (i actually watched your video). Also a possibility is some bad bearings. I have this weird clicking noise coming from my 89 IROC, its not as loud as yours is, but sounds just about the same, turns out i need some new pinion bearings and carrier bearings in my differential housing.

just in case you don't know, to check for a bad U-Joint. jack your car up and put it on stands. crawl underneath and find your driveshaft. once you find it, get a firm grip on it and try to turn it either direction...if there is any play in it, you have a bad U-Joint and definitely needs to be replaced.

hope this helps!

Re: strange clicking inside car when moving?

Stop driving it until you figure out what's going on. It's not the U joints if it still makes the noise while standing still. Must be coming from the flexplate/torque converter area.

i checked the U-joints on the car, that wasn't it. so now i'm going ahead and seeing about that flex plate. recently it has gotten better and i rarely hear it now, but all the same i want it gone since it might be something concerning

When I put the new motor in my car, I had it running and drove it for about, 50 miles, when I started getting a pinging/clicking noise coming from the center of the car area even at idle. Pulled the inspection plate on the tranny and found my flywheel/flexplate bolts all coming loose which caused it to wobble in place catching the bolts on things as they swung by.
