Plugs and leads
G'day guys and girls..... I have a 89 Iroc-z with a 350 TPI, I'm about to order a set of dyno dons headers and single cat Y-pipe.
My question is what plugs and leads should I order so I can do the job all in one go? I've searched through a lot of previous threads but can't find part numbers for leads with 90* boots.... And will NGK platinum or iridiums fit? Any help will be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Brad

Get these plugs, they are $1.79 each and very short, I used to use them.

Re: Plugs and leads
Careful with cheap wires. It gets really hot next the the headers and any leads touching them may melt. There are plug wire protectors out there but do yourself a favor and get a decent set. I don't know any parts co's out your way but JEGS USA is a decent supply co and can help with product selection. You may also need a special plug socket/wrench to tighten the plugs once you put the headers on. They usually make it difficult to get a plug socket on because the headers cover over top of the plug or too close to get a regular socket on. Get a set of wre looms to redirect and hold the wires away from the headers. I run with a set of generic 8031 Accel comp wires 8.8 mm with HEI with 90 degree boots and they work fine. You have to cut to length and make them up but it's easy to do. I would also get a starter heat shield for your car as the headers will pass very close and has caused problems to some in the past due to over heating the starter. You may have to bend the brake lines a little out of the way or install a heat shield to protect the lines. Some also have problems with the fuel lines to close to the header. Another heat shield. Good luck

Awesome! Thanks for the help guys
I have no problem ordering parts from the states so that's not a drama. If anyone else has any suggestions ill gladly take them on board. Tough cars is huge in south Australia and I plan for my IROC to be well and truly in that category!!

Since you are ordering from the states, get a set of Borg Warner Nascar Select
Part# CH8833, they are 8mm and low resistence.

Re: Plugs and leads
I wouldn't buy expensive wires for a car with headers unless you plan on protecting them with some kind of heat resistant boot guards.

I have headers on my 92 RS, I run accel custom build wires so i could run away from heat and not end up with long plug wires. Accel also makes shorty header plugs. In any case you will have to use a wrench on the third plug from the front on the passenger side a few others are tight but I took a cheap spark plug socket and ground the back down about 3/16 of an inch solved all other fitment issues.Biggest thing i do to save some skin is put car on ramps the night before headers are to tight to avoid especially hot.
