Oil Leak help!!

Do you know where this leak is coming from? It pours out oil when I crank the car over. Looks like it's above the oil filter somewhere.

Re: Oil Leak help!!

There is a threaded plug on the side of the block just above the filter. I would check this because it for an oil sending unit.

Re: Oil Leak help!!

That hole needs to be plugged up. You need an 1/8" NPT pipe plug. Any hardwar store will have it

Re: Oil Leak help!!

Sorry about that. It's a 1985 firebird 2.8l v6 fuel injected. It doesnt feel like the oil leak is coming from the filter it's coming from above it. Thanks!

Re: Oil Leak help!!

Check your oil pressure sending unit,... next guess is the valve cover.

Re: Oil Leak help!!

so i replaced the oil filter, and oil filter adapter gasket and it still gushing out when i turn the motor over. No matter at what angle i look i cant see the source as its coming out, all i know is that it looks like its right above oil filter adapter and next to the motor mount. any help is greatly appreciated, im about ready to just remove the whole engine to find the problem...

Thanks!
Ryan

Re: Oil Leak help!!

You can clearly see in that picture a hole above your oil filter where the oil is coming out. Like i said before, PLUG IT.
