Alright guys so I have an 87 Trans am with a 305 TPI 700R4 trans, anyways I cant get my car started. I Have spark and I have fuel with lots of pressure.

Here are the things I have checked,

I have checked that im getting power to the injectors.
I removed a plug wire and tested both ends on each wire for every plug and i have spark. I checked at the fuel rack and i have fuel and lots of pressure. I have power to the distributor thats working.

I cant remember off hand everything I tried but if I think of them ill edit my post.

If i have fuel to the rack with pressure,i know the fuel pump and filter are fine, and I have power going to the injectors, and have spark for each plug. I also want to mention when i spray a little gas into the intake she fires and wants to start but as soon as I stop she dont fire. What could it be?

 

well, it could be your injectors aren't getting a signal from the ECM. check with a noid light.us knowing the circumstances behind your post would help a bunch. were you driving and it just died? did you stop for a beer and then it wouldn't start? tell us how you got to this point.

 

Sorry I never thought thatd help, but last time i drove it was last summer and it got really hot and when i got home i had shut it off it hasnt started since

 

It definitely sounds like you have a fuel issue. For some reason, you are not getting enough fuel to the intake.

 

there are 3 things you need spark,fuel, compression. without any one of these 3 its a no go. check your compression. sometimes when you have a really bad overheat .it takes all the tension out of the rings.

 

Did you attach a fuel pressure gauge and check for the pressure at the fuel rail valve? Do you hear the pump priming? Spray starter fluid into the throttle and see if it ignites, that way you'll know you have spark and no fuel or vice versa. Like the guy above me said, a motor needs air, fuel, spark, and compression. Rule out every single one of those and your motor will fire.

 

He said he sprayed a little gas in the intake and it wants to start, so it's obviously a fuel issue. You need to find out why it's not getting fuel or enough fuel.

 

fuel pump,filter,pressure regulator,injectors. in that order. is what I would be looking at for why it wont start.
