stupid question..

If my buddy lifted by the crank pulley to swing my motor around while it was on the stand did he cause any damage? he didn't lift the whole engine just the front of it..

thanks

it's possible..

it puts a lot of load on the bearings, and not good load, either

what's the chances and how would I know if it did damage? we just kinda of slid it while it was sitting on the engine stand with a board under it.. then he sorta lifted a little by the crank pulley to turn it around..

Man, don't get too worried. It will probably be alright.

Dad always cautioned me on this.. i don't know if what he told me is true but i always am careful when doing that kinda stuff..

i figured you'd done some extensive lifting but it'll probably be ok

it will be fine. the bearings can take a ton of load just sitting on the stand. what causes wear is really having a side load on the bearing while it is spinning(ie; setting belt tensions too high). don't worry about it.

thanks guys.. with all the pre install issues i've already run into I don't need to find out the engine is f'ed up because of something stupid like that.. I'll be glad when I get it all in and running.. right now I'm in the process of painting brackets and changing the motor mounts with the energy suspension ones.. finally got around to putting all the sensors and fittings back on today... now if I could only get some 10+ degree C weather down here it would be nice..
