Died with a thump at stop light
After driving 75-85 mph for two hours, engine died at first stoplight with a thump, as if it had seized up, and wouldn't start, but started after five minutes; something cooled off, evidently. Sensor? Which one? MAF? Or VATS?
Notes: (1) Just installed 3-row radiator with 160 degree sensor & 190 degree thermostat; temp. doesn't go over 160. (2) recently replaced ECM. (3) Fuel injectors have never been checked. (4) Engine sputtered at low idle, before dying.

Nine gallons.
Re: Died with a thump at stop light
Hmm... Since the fuel cools the pump, long drives on a low tank can over heat the pump, causing it to stick. When they cool back down, sometimes they come back. But 1/2 tank, it's probably not that issue.

Re: Died with a thump at stop light
Gas gauge read empty, but took only 10 gallons to fill & read full afterwards. There was a thirty mile headwind over the last 110 miles, and I was doing 75-80 mph, so that pump could have heated & heated more when I stopped. You're probably right.

Re: Died with a thump at stop light
The starter didn't turn over or click, though the electric fan & cluster functioned.
