Hi,
I have an iron with 350 crate engine. Once it warms up it idles about 900 but when I turn on the a/c it drops to about 450-500. If revs up, it will shut off. Otherwise, the car does not stall. Any suggestion will be appreciated!

Do you have a stepper motor

 

If it was carbed from the factory, there would have originally been an adjustable solenoid in front of the throttle linkage to bump the idle when the a/c is switched on. If it's not there now, or not working properly, then that would be causing your problem.

There's a plunger on the end of the solenoid, make sure it moves when the a/c is switched on. If it moves, but not enough, turn the plunger counter clockwise with a wrench until it bumps the idle enough to put it at the proper idle speed.

 

 

It’s a motor that is next to the throttle linkage. When the ac is commanded on the motor pushes out and raises the idle speed. It might be considered more of a solenoid.

I looked but I see no stepper motor close to the throttle linkage.

Do I need to incorporate one? Is there another solution to the problem?

Throttle kicker solenoid is at the bottom right.

 

I definitely don’t have it. My engine is using a Holley 670 street avenger carb. Can I add it to th carb?

 

I think the avenger is close to a 4150 , 4160 but I’d double check with holley to see if this kit will work.

I contacted Holley and yes, that’s is the solenoid that with the carb. They also suggested the bracket. But I guess there is a connector- wire that needs to be hook be connected to the solenoid? What type of connector and where does connect to?
