All you need is a paper clip if it’s codes your wanting to read.

Bend it into a U shape. stick one leg into terminal A and the other into B. Turn the key to run, not start, just run... Then count the flashes of the check engine light on the dash.

Paper clip. Don't waste money on scanner for an OBD I car if all you're gonna do is pull codes with it.

Find a deal on a Snap-On MT2500 (or a newer Snap-On scanner like a Modis, Verus, Verdict, etc) on ebay. Or you will have to go with an ALDL cable and some laptop software like winALDL or use TunerPro and the proper ADX file, etc.
