Motor Mounts
Motor Mounts
I am putting a Gen1 SBC 5.7 into my 1983 Z28. The engine side mounts I have are for a 1980 C3500, so they won't work. Where can I get replacement engine side mounts? I don't want to run solid mounts, and the mounts I found on Ebay are 60$ for a rusty pair. Any better options out there?

Re: Motor Mounts
I just think 60$ is a little steep
Posting about "I want em cheeeeeper" on here isn't gonna do a damn bit of good. Either you want em or you don't. They cost what they cost. People who have stuff won't give it to you unless you give em what they want in exchange. Feel free to wait for them to "appear" magically for less. It's your time and your money and your project. Might want to check the classifieds on this site and see if anybody is parting out a car and will sell em for less.
Re: Motor Mounts
If people want that much for a rusty piece of metal I'll just make them myself. The ones on ebay also don't have enough pictures for me to be sure they are the right ones and I'm not taking a chance on getting the wrong ones. And you don't need to be rude about it either, if you can't be civil I don't need your input.

Re: Motor Mounts
If I needed 'em, I'd pay the $60, since I don't feel like searching the junkyards and then pulling them off a car myself. I would then bead-blast them to bare metal and paint them fresh with some chasssis black..
Re: Motor Mounts
There is rude, to the point, short, curt, big ol meanie, etc. Sofa isn't rude. He's adding a stylistic flourish to entertain, and convey humor, light-hearted friendly ribbing, to make a mundane reply more fulfilling, and clear. It helps if you read his posts with a jovial overtone. Look at it that way and it makes a lot more sense why he'd take the time to help you, rather than to assume he's just being rude. If he were rude, would he even reply at all? Food for thought.
Study up on the topic, figure out which part number mounts you need (there are at least three part numbers for thirdgens) and make sure that the second hand mounts you're buying have the proper number stamped in them. That way you know what you're buying, and know they're going to work right. Otherwise just slap something together and when it works as well as something slapped together, you can post thread after thread about this really odd issue you're having, and you (along with the people helping you) will probably never think about the potential that your shop class motor mounts that saved you $20 don't correctly fit your car. Sometimes it's not worth trying to save $60.

FWIW, from the 86 assy manual (LG4/LB9/L69). It appears that these P/N's did reach the production floor.

Except that you need something to use as a reference. If you get the angle wrong, you could experience bad vibrations...
