You can still get the OEM wires... they may come with the new looms but I am not going spend 50 bucks to find out. there are a lot of nice aftermarket loom kits for the center-bolt and original style valve covers.
I like the ones you see in my avatar.. nice clean routing. I used the MSD universal wire kit to make them the length I wanted.
Some dudes want the OEM look and that is cool too. Our 3rd gens are getting old enough that Year One and others are making reproduction parts too so that would be a good place to search & every year the parts list grows.

Good leads but no cigar. Thinking I could fab something with epoxy putty but sheesh. I've looked before at aftermarket and nothing really works the same way. Just trying to be a stickler. Lotsa ways work.

Ehh If you order plug wires from a dealer at this point, you're more likely to receive an AC Delco replacement, made by a different manufacturer than original equipment. There's no point. Get the same thing for less from Rock Auto anyway. Not to mention, 87-92 were 7mm wires from the factory.

Who said anything about 'need'? Most people will want to run a more typical 8mm wire. Better to point out the stock wires are only 7mm, and the original looms won't fit aftermarket wires, than to wait for the inevitable "I got a set of looms and my wires won't fit" or "damn, I ordered a set and they're only 7mm".
The Packard electrical division of GM doesn't exist anymore. It doesn't matter what wires you order, they're not going to be restoration correct.

Eventually more aftermarket companies will buy the licenses from GM to make more GM licensed authentic reproductions.
If I can get the correct date stamped spark plug wires for my 1972 Cutlass, somebody in the near future will be able to the same for a 3rd gen F-body OEM restoration.
Besides if somebody can't squeeze 8 mm wires onto the 7mm looms the should get their girlie hands examined LOL ! 1mm ( .039") is not going to make any difference it might be a tighter fit but they will fit.

well, i know i need my head examined, but 8mm wires dont fit into factory looms. not the way i want them to fit. but i've heard perfection is the enemy of good enough.

Then you need a set of OEM NOS plug wires.
At least you know these will last compared to the junk they sell at autozone.

I have a 83 car... I've been wanting to find those since about 86, when they started breaking. Certain ones can be found new but others... not so much. Especially the ones down low, where the wires go under the manifolds, and the looms are pushed onto basically a piece of round steel wire.
A number of them, you can fake, with an aftermarket loom tie-wrapped to the factory "bracket" thing. But not all. You can also make new bracket things to mount some of the aftermarket ones on.
Obviously we're talking FUNCTION here, not Concours restoration.
In 2020, I HIGHLY recommend 8mm wires; not "original". Problem (well, there are no such things as "problems", only, opportunities for solutions) is getting them exactly the right length. I've had good results on dozens, maybe hundreds, of vehicles over the years, with Taylor Spiro-Pro. Good quality wire, good connectors, when well assembled they last as long as OEM.

Funny, somewhere I've got all the original wire looms off my 86 T/A. They're completely useless to me because my cars are later and require different looms. LOL Oh well. Moot point anyway since they're somewhere in the limbo that is my somewhat, but not really, organized storage.
