oil cooler install , oil bypass valve delete ?
i´m planing to install a hayden oil cooler on my 3.1 v6
my question is : do i need to delete the oil bypass valve ? Does some of the oil pressure gets lost when it pumps the oil though the cooler ?
because the bypass valve in the block opens at 10 -12 psi pressure difference when the filter gets clogged
i don´t want to get unfiltered oil though the engine all the time
thanks for your

To get at the right answer to the 1st question, we need to know, WHY are you doing this to your car?
Yes there is some pressure drop in a cooler. Probably not much, but that depends on ALOT of details. Particularly in the installation. What size lines, what type of fittings, etc.

well hot climate lots of traffic lots of highway driving
would install with 1/2" aluminum pipe 9,5 mm ID bend from the oil cooler adapter away with a SAE 45 flare ,to the backside ( fan side ) on the radiator

Forget the oil cooler. Run a quality 5w40 synthetic and move on. Modern synthetics can handle sustained 450 degree oil temps and hold viscosity and stay stable. Being your little V6 will never come close to this, you are wasting your time.

You don't get it. THERE IS NO WAY TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. We have no idea how you are installing it. And even if we did - no one here will know what the pressure drop is across YOUR cooler installation. Install a differential pressure gauge and test it.
Or scrap the whole idea because it's ridiculous and a waste of time. Run synthetic and move on. Your 3.1 isn't hard enough on oil to even remotely need a cooler. GM didn't run one even with the shitz oil we had 30 years ago. And yet those V6 engines routinely lasted 250k miles. So I ask you - what's the point exactly?

I don't know where you live; looks like someone who speaks a European language but that could cover LOTS of ground; but here in the American Southwest, where temperatures regularly exceed 110°F (over 43°C) and ALL driving is "highway driving" because everything is so far apart except when you get into cities like Phoenix or LA or El Paso or Las Vegas where there's "lots of traffic", nothing of the kind is considered worthwhile or even desirable, let alone necessary.
I'd suggest abandoning the idea. It won't accomplish anything useful except to make your car very slightly faster, by way of weight reduction, with all weight savings centered on the driver's wallet.
