Intake manifold with cc quadrajet
So broke bolts off trying to get the thermostat housing off to change the thermostat. I tried and broke two bolt extractors and bought a bolt extraction tool that bites around the bolt then twists with a wrench to loosen, with no luck, they are stuck. So only option would be to remove the intake and take it to a machine shop to have them drilled out. So that got me thinking maybe ill just order a new aftermarket intake and put on it. I already plan to remove the exhaust from the headers back and replace with the hooker headers full exhaust i have already, just wondering what intake would be good for a very mild LG4 that will clear the hood using the stock quadrajet?

Well that's all a matter of opinion. I have mine (not likely to change), you have yours. I call it a POS, having had these cars from the day they hit the stealership showrooms in 1981. Someday you'll learn and become like me. Experience and knowledge of REALITY trumps opinion and "I think" any day of the week.
Apart from all that, either a ZZ4 takeoff or an Edelbrock "Performer" is what you need. Same thing, different logo cast into the front. You'll need a little bit of creativity to make your choke work right though, not a YUUUUUUUJJJJJJJE deal or anything, just, be aware before, or as, you jump in.

Yup youre right, all matter of opinion. Ive had an 84 trans am that i swapped to a vortec 355, and 87 with a carbed 350 and a lt1 trans am, none of them original. If i wanted horsepower and speed i would have bought a 98+ ls1, i want something tk just cruise the street and maintain the original powertrain in it, hence why im ok with the slower factory 305. Why wont the choke work though?

In what way does the choke not work? Don't seem to recall that in the original post.
Got a ZZ4 takeoff or Performer intake yet?

Re: Intake manifold with cc quadrajet
Actually, if you use an electric choke, such as your factory Q-Jet, it's no problem. I apologize, I was thinking of a thermostatic one. So scratch that comment.

Re: Intake manifold with cc quadrajet
ZZ4 or Edelbrock Performer w/EGR should work fine. Not worth paying to have the old manifold repaired.
I wouldn't call the LG4 a POS. Underpowered, yes, but it's reliable, easy to work on and sounds good. The OP says he has already done headers, so that should make a reasonable improvement over stock.

So good news, i was able to get the bolt extracted and put back together. Im guessing since i was able to get the bolt out its not worth upgrading the intake

I hope you used anti-seize on the new bolts. I always use stainless steel studs - with anti-seize.
