Vortec heads AC and Alternator bracket ?

Engine is a 1987 350 TPI. Running Vortec heads
EDIT: along with the First Performance TPI system.
I have a question.

For those running Vortec heads in your 350 TPI what did you do for the AC compressor bracket ?

The bolt holes on the factory bracket don’t line up.

Also the alternator bracket doesn’t line up when bolted to the plenum ??

EDIT: do I need the brackets from
A specific vehicle that runs Vortec heads from the factory ?

Are you talking about the horseshoe looking bracket that bolts to the front 2 intake bolts?

Spoiler

Yes where the alternator bolts to the intake.
I forgot to mention I’m running a First Performance intake
I’ve got some responses on the FB groups and others have had the same problem.
looks like I have to fabricate a bracket.

Re: Vortec heads AC and Alternator bracket ?

So the issue is with the intake, and not the heads?

Ya since the intake is not OEM the mounting location for the alternator bracket has no spot to be secured.
I just hacked up the OEM bracket and took it to my buddy to weld.

Going to be a PITA to keep cutting and welding until it’s right

Not pretty but I will some thing nicer once I get the car running. Yes I’ll be putting a spacer behind the bracket.
I just need the alternator secure and straight for now.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Vortec heads AC and Alternator bracket ?

That doesn't look like a real good spot for a brace... a very small bolt, secured into very little material.

I think you'd do better by making something that would go down to the intake bolts.

Re: Vortec heads AC and Alternator bracket ?

As I said above it’s temporary until I get the car running and order an alternator lowering bracket.
And the Alternator is actually real secure without the bolt even in place.
