China wall Leak? Or more?

85 z28 w/383 stroker - rpm air gap intake

Okay so I have a fast oil leak. I figured it out and it's definitely coming from the China wall or something around there. I can see a lot of oil just pour on out near the distributor/rear intake/ oil pressure sensor area.

The leak happens in the higher rpms and it leaks FAST. Also seems to leak fairly slowly when the car is off/sitting (maybe a drip every hour or something) - enough to see some liquid on the floor after sitting for a day

Does this sound like a intake gasket failure? I know for sure it's leaking from that region.

yea I was going to do that originally as I thought it was my oil pan leaking. I cleaned up the pan and nothing from there. But I physically can't see the china wall. I had a little mirror I tried to look through but to no avail. Wonder if its just better to reseal everything back there?

Re: China wall Leak? Or more?

There is no way for the Engine oil to leak from the Rear Valley China-Wall, when the Engine is NOT running.

With the proper volume of Engine Oil being used, the Engine Oil level is no where near high enough to leak from that location.
Crank-Case Pressure (while the Engine is running) could push Engine Oil out at that location.

Do you have a proper Crank-Case Vent/ PCV/ Ventilation System?
Have you inspected for any kind of blockage or restriction of the Vent?

How did you seal the Rear Valley China-Wall?

I wasnt the one that built this engine. I bought the car with the motor in it, so not sure how it was sealed. It's possible the oil I'm seeing drip when the car is off is from when the motor was on. As I can see it drip at the bottom of the pan. Probably slowly makes its way down there

I have reason to suspect the PCV may not be working but not sure how to check. I got oil leaking from valve covers even after replacing with felpro gaskets. Before you say, I'm certain this oil isn't from the valve covers.

Now how do I check if my pcv is working? i know the car has low vacuum because its got a hefty cam in it.

If you have to take it apart, which it sounds like you will, you might want to check the intake to china rail gap.

Okay so I just checked my pcv valve. It seems fine - makes the ticking noise when you shake it. I noticed that there wasn't any new oil today (cleaned it up yesterday before I inspected)
thinking it could be the oil pressure sending unit now, but can't tell.
