What size fitting?

What is the size of the fitting that goes into the steering rack for the power steering? Thanks!

Re: What size fitting?

Note also that the type of fitting is the Saginaw O-ring type. Looks something like the O-ring end of this except that the OEM part had a nut that was free to turn on steel tubing rather than a single solid object. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dsr-090202sds There's 2 possible sizes, this one and the other one. Please excuse the cryptic description the mfr uses for its application. There are also other mfrs and suppliers of course.

Re: What size fitting?

Alright. I’m trying to convert it to an hose but I’d see two different sizes for the steering box apparently. I was thinking at first it was 11/16 -18 inverted but then there’s also the metric like what shiftycapone mentioned.

Re: What size fitting?

It's metric. Blee Dat.

Did you click on the link I gave you? Does the description match your car? Then it's one of the 2 potential right ones. What was its size? Use your calipers to see if it's that one or the other.

It's just not that hard. Don't make it so.

Re: What size fitting?

Yeah I went to the link it helped and figured out which one it was I needed and found the adapter to go AN line. Already ordered it and it’s the last piece to get my car back on the road. Appreciate the help!

Make sure whatever AN line you use is pressure rated for power steering. Most PTFE hose can accommodate those pressures.

PS. Didn't mean to click edit on your post. Nothing was changed, just me not paying attention.

Yeah I already have an AN power steering line rated for it and the fitting in the pump all I needed was the one for the steering box.

Which brand did you end up going with? I am using Aeroflow, which is awesome, but coming from Australia is impossible to get parts in a timely manor.

I’ve been using evil energy fittings off Amazon. I just swapped a motor into my third gen that I’ve been building and all the fittings I used for the fuel lines has been evil energy. I wasn’t too sure about them at first but they have so many different sizes from like -6an to 3/8 npt and even more and swivel 90 degree an fittings and even push lock which is what I used for the fuel pump that then converted to an. Doesn’t cost an arm and a leg like most other brands and with thread sealer I didn’t have a single leak on first start and 2500 rpm break in. Also used them for the power steering now but need a new belt so not sure how they seal but I’m going to assume fine.

I've used their fittings and adapters too but never their PTFE line. I'll have to check it out sometime.

The push lock isn’t ptfe it’s just 3/8 rubber fuel line basically but it’s from evil energy. I haven’t tried any of their actual ptfe line yet. The only ptfe line I have is the power steering I got pre made from ict billet.

Re: What size fitting?

I think it's a trick question. There IS no steering rack on a ThirdGen.
