Airbag Warning light

On My 91 Firebird since yesterday Sometimes when start it the INFL.REST. light stays Illuminated. Sometiems it doesnt. I just drove it this morning and it didnt. Should I be concerned. What or how do i check this, I dont want to blow the bag out. This car was in a frontal collision at one point in its life before i owned it and Its airbag did pop. And no i dont want to deactivate the airbag, I do believe in them especially after seing many many accidents in my time in the fire department.

BTW I recently replaced the coil and distributor because I got water in that area, so I know theres a sensor there could it being wet cause that? This is the first time it rained since I had that coil problem.

No answer... now the light is off. BUT I doubt it to be a problem in the wheel itself, I believe its probably one of the 3 airbag sensors on the car (one in the nose and 2 on either side the firewall)...

hey
my two cents worth, the diagnostic modulator assembly constantly monitors the sir system. A malfunction causes the light to stay on continuously or to flash, and may possibly not come on atall. hope this helps

I was refering to the INFL.REST light but if your refering to the diagnostic modulator assembly then the answer would be no not the same as the ECM. It may be locatedin the center console or up in the dash however this is a guess. You may want to check a component locator for the exact location.
hope this helps
