Ok here's a weird one...girlfriends camaro chirps 2nd so hard, almost wrecks!any fix?
Besides a posi or welded spider gears (which I already have in my grand prix, which I dont' want to do on her car)..........what are some tips to make a peg leg hook better? I recently did cam, intake, headers, 3inch exhaust, steeper gears, and TH350 swap into myh girlfriends 89 RS, car FLIES for being a crate motor 305 (yes, the guy before actually ordered a 305 for it!! idiot!!!) but problem is after I've got it all tuned up it spins so bad shifting into 2nd when you are racing people that it comes REALLY close to spinning the car out, this is JUST FINE for me, in fact I think its pretty damn cool, but my girlfriend can't handle it, no way! Anybody here tried an airbag in the right rear? OH yeah...car has biggest meats I could find too....255/50/16 comp t/a's.

What ratio axle does she have and what year? If its a 3 series carrier you can buy a posi from SLP for $85. For another $100 buy the installation kit and you are set. You don't need to touch the pinion which is the tough part. Just take note of the foot print of the gears, take out the carrier, put the ring gear on the posi and reinstall it with the same foot print as the original. That is what i did and i have had no problems. The 28 spline axles are kinda tough to get a hold of (used) but they are direct replacements.

I would just spend the money to put a posi in it and that way you don't have to worry about it. Because you will never get a "One legged wonder" to hook unless you are running some really sticky tires and full suspension set-up to go along with it. So my recomendation is go with a posi.

If it's a peg leg, then why is she losing control? with 1 tire spinning and 3 tracking the car is easy to control. Anyways if both tires are breaking loose on the 1-2 shift, try lower control arms and brackets(~$160), new torque arm bushing ($20) and some work(drilling rivits) and maybe some new rear shocks.
I haven't seemed to get any traction in 1st, but 2nd puts down hard, maybe spinning only 5-10 ft banging into 2nd. Car runs low 14s at 96 mph.
I have a TBI car 5 speed that runs 16.0 @ 85 mph and with spin more in 2nd and 3rd than my GTA that I drive now.

Just a thought; have you had the battery disconnected recently? If so you might want to try unhooking it for about twenty minutes then driving kind of easy for the first twenty minutes or so after reconnecting. Sounds strange but it may be that the computer needs to readjust itself. I just had a friend with the same problem and this solved it.

I thought it was a missprint when i saw it too. Its a great unit, ever better for the money.
Not having a sway bar would help a lot also. It will keep the rear planted much better than it is now.
