i want a low 12s or high 11s car
Here's the deal:
I got a 95 gen1 2 bolt 350 block that fits a 1pc seal crank. I got the 383-1-SK stroker kit from PowerHouse (www.enginekits.com). I upgraded to CR3 rods with ARP bolts.
I've decided to use T.P.I. and iron Vortec heads.
This engine must pass the NJ emissions laws.
What cam profile should I use? I want her optimal power to be between 4500-5500 rpm.
What intake manifold should I use?
I've got Edlebrock T.E.S. headers with A.I.R. tubes.
I've got a 3 1/2 inch y-pipe, so I think I might go with a Mac cat-back. Should I do this??
What kind of roller rockers should I use?
What can I do with my suspension?
My IROC currently has a built up 700-R4 with 3.23s in the rear end. She needs to have decent gas mileage so these are a must.
To have this motor get me into the 12s range would be perfect, cuz with a bottle I know 11s isn't far away.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say it, but TPI and vortec heads are not gonna put your car in the low 12s high 11s area. TPI with any heads is VERY hard to bring down to that area. I'd recommend AFR heads and a miniram. OR Trickflow heads and a carb

You're gonna have to do something to even get the vortecs legal. But, there's probably an SLP cam out there, along with some intake work, or replacement, along with slicks and a nice torque converter that should help get things down the track faster.
Good luck,
Jeremy
Good luck,

I would say that to make it emissions legal you need to put on AFR heads. they are the best I have heard about for emissions power..but they are expensive. Good luck also a tip turn the timing don before you go so it barely runs..It will help alot.

Use NOS or shave about 1000 pounds off the car. To run 12.0 with approximatly a 3500 pound car you need to be putting at least 400 hp to the rear wheels. That means it would probably have a redline of about 6500 rpm to do it.
A SBC engine producing that much HP and being emmission legal isn't cheap. It probably wouldn't be much of a daily driver either.

Are you sure that 700R4 is going to hold up to all that HP? Well it might if you want to take these guys words for it .....

Ok, so tell me. TPI is not a good idea?? Help me out......someone here must have experience making this much power out of a 383. I'm using the kit I mentioned before with 64cc vortec heads. That means a 9:1 compression ratio. Someone, please help!!

well, one cam i can think of that might work the way you want is the LT4 cam. it was designed with the ability to not require an e.g.r. valve and with a 1.5 ratio rocker it would allow the cam to work with the stock vortec valve springs. this cam should also peak around 5k with the 1.5 rockers and a 383 as well as some really good torque down low. your going to want the scroggin's dickey intake with an aftermarket set of runners or modified stock one's. this is a good place to start.
