Replacing the O-2 sensor........
Replacing the O-2 sensor........
I have an 86 T/A with the 305 and I'm getting ready to attempt to change the oxygen sensor. Is this a tough job? Any first hand experience out there? Any hidden problems that I should be looking for? I'll take all the help I can get, Thanks.........

Good luck trying to break it loose it will take a good bit of WD-40 and when you try to install the new on clean the threads up good and use that spcial grease that comes with it, and also dont overtorqu it or you will get a s&*$^*y running car.
Removed mine the other day on my 86T/A. Amazingly simple, I was stunned after all I had read before. Forget about wd40, takes too many applications. Get yourself some Marvel Mystery Oil penetrating spray at Wal-mart. Give it one good shot of that stuff and a few minutes to soak. If the six point pattern of the o2 is turned just right you can get an open end wrench on there( one that fits snugly) and break it free. I have been tearing my motor and engine compartment down with this spray and it never fails .WOW!!
hey all, i was gonna ask the same question, its time to change my o2 sensor, but i quess its pretty easy. Will changing it/not changing it effect if i pass inspection( i just bought the car and finally got it registered).
ok one last question, i am getting a code 34, high vaccum from my maf sensor, is this hard to fix?

WD-40 is not a very good penitrating oil......this summer i dicoved PB blaster.....that is some GOOD ****, I sprayed on top of a bolt that had a recession around it and filled that recession with the oil.....in about 10 min it had worked it way down and around the bolt to the other side, which was about an inch or so....it was an exhaust part, so it was rusted up pretty good....Nut came off with out too much effort, i replaced it with a brass one tho. Ne way...PB Blaster, white spary can and a Yellow Cap.....GREAT ****, Wal-Mart.

One more thing to keep in mind.....
Don't touch the tip of the O2 sensor. There's a plastic cap over it for a reason. It's like a halogen bulb. The oil on your skin can contaminate the tip and it will take some time for the ill effects to wear off.
