Need help with cam install.
Ok now the problems start I got the cam in and lined the dot up with the zero and now the motor wont turn all the way around its like the cam is running into something. Any Ideas? this really sux. I took it back apart and turned #1 to TDC and reinstalled it so the cam sprocket dot was straight up and turned it and it ran into something again. Im all out of ideas. All the lifters are out so its not like im hitting the valves. What do i do?
Specs on the cam?
Specs on your piston & deck height?
Specs on your timing chain (true roller w/ adjustable sprocket?)
I've seen people line up the "o" on 3-way adjustable sprockets.....there are 2 litlle "o" marks.....1 for timing retard & other for Straight Up.....
Give us some more details.

Welcome to the world of running a cam that has too much lift with a motor that has a long stroke. I can just about guarantee (depending on cam lift) that the edges of your rods by the rod bolts are hitting the cam. Solution? Use a smaller lift cam or do the real thing - order a small base circle cam. Sad but true.

heres my specs
* Advertised duration: 268 intake/280 exhaust
* Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 224 intake/230 exhaust
* Gross valve lift: .479 in. intake/.480 in. exhaust
* Lobe separation: 114 degrees
* RPM range: 1,800 to 5,800
I thought the lift was still kind of conservative. Do ya think i could advance or retard it abit to miss the bolts if that is infact what it is. Hmm small base circle cam where would you go to get one of them that is similar to the lt4 specs

i lined my cam gear dot to the crank gear dot that's above the keyway instead of the dot that's three teeth in the counter clockwise direction from the keyway dot. this resulted in my valves hitting the pistons. i'd check to make sure you've got the right dots but that shouldn't cause problems without lifters in there so it's probably your long stroke causing problems.
