There no point in revving past 4500 rpms, but if you are wondering for future reference for mods, I'm not sure.

Like he said, there is no point in taking an L98 past 4500. it can;t breathe any higher.

If you're asking about the stregth of the bottom end, then I'd put the limit at about 6000, maybe 6500 tops if you don't mind being a a little risky.

Port the heads, change the cam, and balance the crankshaft and they make good power untill 6 grand.

Through a lot of testing, I have 5,000 rpm to be my optimum shift point. Yeah the engine will rev higher, but you end up going slower in the 1/4 due to the TPI intake choking the air flow.

it should hold together up to 6500 for short bursts, but it is pretty much worthless above 5500 and stops pulling hard above 5k.

I was kinda wondering the same thing. I know that it won't breathe past 5000 or so, but i was wondering myself at what rpm its safe to take it too. I know that on some cars the redline is set by power production, accesory speed, or valve float issues. I was jsut wondering, if i got a freer flowing intake, how high could the valve train/ acessories/ rotating/reciprocating internals go?

I can't say it will happen to everyone, but i've had problems with blowing the clips out of the lifters above 5k on stock 350 motors. It's happened to me twice while doing high rpm burnouts. =)
