Smoked an Acura 3.2 type S

I have nothing to do so I'll tell you guys about a little race lastnight. I was driving over to a freinds house at about 10:30pm, and this guy in a Acura 3.2 Type-S (CL or TL, it was a 2 door) comes flying up along side me and than stays at my speed. A light turns red ahead, we both are side by side at the light and I wasn't going to hit it untill I knew he did first. So I shifted down to first and the light turns green, I took off normal and so did he. I thought it was over and than the next light turns red and there we are again. This time the light turns green, I take off normal and I'm ahead than I hear his intake start sucking in air and he goes flying past. I'm still in first so I nail it when my front end was about even with his back, my tires spun right away but I was pulling on him hard, I hit secaond and the tires spun again by this time I was already past him. I ran it up to about 65mph in a 45 zone and he was a long way behind, so I hit the brakes because this wasn't worth a ticket, and than he does the famous ***** flyby after he was killed by another domestic. It wasn't very exciting but it still was fun. This was the second 3.2 Type-S I've beat, the first one was last year and that one had an intake, full exhaust from the engine to tips, and computer, we talked after we raced and he seemed cool. Has anyone seen these things run the 1/4mi in person, the best I've seen in a magazine was 14.7 or 14.8 and 0-60 in the low to mid 6's.

Good kill, although with a 383 no acura should stand a chance against you. I always laugh when they fly by, it really is funny because you know how embarassed they are doing it.

I have the Type S myself.

There is no way the Acura is gonna beat a V8 off the line, not enough torque, got killed by a friend's 1989 L98 IROC off the line many times by 4 or 5 cars, then you learn not to do that.

However, from a 45mph roll, both cars were dead even (that IROC ran 14.1 at 97), so you may get beat there. Haven't raced mine yet, but 14.8 seems about the norm. They are limited to 148mph, so watch out.

Good kill,
I agree with paul, they dont pull very well out of the hole but make up for it in top end. I raced one of these in my '85 and it was a VERY close race. I had a few lengths on him at the start but he came back and came right up to my door by 80mph or so.

I guess things were a little different with that 383 under the hood.

Wait till you add some headers to your motor.. Then you'll kill them even more.

I know those Acura's have a great topend but I think I still would kill him at anywhere from 40 to 50mph because thats the perfect kickdown speed for my engine. When we raced he was already high in his rpm's because I could hear his engine winding in 1'st, but my car is a rocket to 60mph, 1st and 2nd gear pull like mad. The only Acura I'm worried about racing is my stepdad's 2001 Acura NSX, I think it will be a close race though.

I drove one with a automatic last summer. It was pretty fast (remember I'm used to cars w/ under 200hp, you know the most hp in the family at the moment is the minivan w/166hp 3.8, uurrggghhh), it needs some better tires though, I could squeal them VERY easily from a stop. New 6-speeds should be faster yet
