well, judging from the HP, i think the AMC has the edge with 285, you only have 160

Get full exhaust first, headers back. I'd recommend the Hooker cat-back. A cam swap would be a good idea, then a some 3:73s or 3:42s for gears.

Ahh, the Matador. Mom used to have one of those back when I was like 12. BOAT!!!!! But I'll never forget the time mom left the keys in the car and my cousin, who was 16 at the time, jumped in and showed me what powerbreaking was With that big *** engine, they dont' have much problem with the power factor, but the weight of those things has to be horrendous.

If you can do a cam swap yourself look to spend about $200 at the most including gaskets and such.

Gears most people can't do or don't have the right tools they'll be $300 w/install kit, then look to spend about $200-300 for install.

Full exhaust will run around $500 on a budget for parts. Shouldn't be to hard to install,I'd recommend the Hooker cat-back.

So right there you have about $1200 or so give or take some $.
