I know it isn't thrid gen related but I need to know quick!

Alright last friday night me and my buddy went to white castle. When we come out there was a dakota r/t with a 3.1 liter sitting there. And he asked my buddy if he want to race.So of course I encouraged it.(my buddy has a little lowrider mazda truck)Anway we pulled out but we never got to race because there was 2 sheriffs sitting the parking lot by where we where supposed to race.

I ended up talking to the kid for a little bit and I told him I would find him this weekend in my truck.I need to know what to expect.I have 4.3 liter with a 700r4.My tranny shifts really good though. And he has a 3.1 with a 5 speed. How well do these dakato's run.The only thing doen to my truck is a K&n filter which I didn't even notice anything when I did this. And he All's I know is he has traction bars and a tach. But I know his buddie likes nitrous so he might be running it also.

So are these trucks pretty quick or not.

I hear the 5.9L R/Ts are only pushing 240hp, so that 3.1L should be a lot less. I don't think you have to worry too much.

Thank for the reply.I am just hoping he isn't on the bottle.I know his buddie did it to a 86 ranger with a 2.3 in it and that truck ran pretty good.

These kids around here a tricky. There is a stang that runs 11's.It seems street racing is getting alot more popular.(either that or I am just out alot more)

I saw a 5.9 dakota race a new mustang 4.6 the other day both sticks and the mustang got him by three car lengths.

And oh yeah what does dakota stx mean.I raced one of those with a 4.7 5 speed and stayed right next to him from about 15mph.

The only transmission that the 5.9L engine (what you get with the R/T package) has is the automatic. He can get the 4.7L or 3.9L with a 5-speed, but not the 5.9L. There is no other engine available with the R/T package. The only way would have to be an aftermarket swap. Something about those Magnum engines is that they are very torque biased, much like the TPI engines. So, they may only have 250hp, but they have 345 lb-ft of torque. That's 5hp & tq more than the L98. The only other way to get a 5.9 in a dakota is in the quad cab, but again no 5 speed

Personally I would get the 4.7/ 5-speed or wait for the hemi

I thought they only had 300ft/tq, as someone said on the appearance board.

Check out the website www.dodge.com Look in the dakota section, on the left hand side is a menu, the one that says Specifications, then look under Power, i think. Has the hp & tq #s for all the engines (even the 2.5L haha), though not the rpms for said #s.
