How dumb is this kid..?
Alright a friend of mine just bought a 1986 Olds 442 with the 307 in it and it's bone stock. With 159k miles, a leaking tranny and blown headgaskets..also has frame damage from a major accident. He says once he gets all this fixed that he could smoke my camaro. Now I know that's a joke. I just want to embarass him but not in my camaro, but in my SHO.
How do you think i'll fare against him? My SHO has a dynomax catback, new clutch and is in good running shape. I know i'm gonna beat him but I'm just trying to figure out by how much. This kid is an idiot in my opinion, I would have sold him my IROC for $4500 with 100k less miles.. but he went and spent $3000 on a car with all those problems and quite a bit of rust.

You can beat him easily in a SHO. I had a friend with a 307 automatic Olds and it wouldn't get out of it's own way sometimes. I used to toy with him in my stang without even trying. I'd think a SHO wouldn't have any problem either
IMO,
That car is as much a 442 as a ford escort. GM took a great car, and finished it off with a 16 second mockery...makes me wonder what fbodies have comming (if anything).
Anyhoo,
Yes you will win, by a lot. To humiliate him even more race on the highway.

my friend has an 86 442. it has plenty of engine work done to it(307ci.). he pull the motor, had it bored .30 over, larger cam, and all the stuff. with all that work he's running a best of 16.2(on street tires). you should take him.

haha thanks guys..sounds like this will be good fun. I think i'll race him from a stop and also from a 40mph roll just to really put a hurting on him. My DOHC motor in the SHO likes those high RPMS so I don't see him standing any chance of seeing my tailights anymore after a few seconds into full throttle. I'm also going to print this post out and show it to him. And show him how stupid he was for buying this car.

Heavy chevy29, that is all your buddy got out of that thing? I have the 79 buick 307 in my 84 cutlass with the th350 and I have ran almost a 9.0 in the 1/8!!!!! All I have done is a gear change, intake, carb, lt headers, and port the heads! It can run with my IROC, and beats some Mustangs too!!!!

i don't know his 1/8 mile times. i've only seen him run 1/4 miles. his best was 16.2. he does not have headers or a bigger carb. he has 373s in the rear with a rebiult auto w/ shift kit. his car is a pretty quick street car. when he runs at the track he only pulls a 16.2.
