You're going to lose. Saturns are much faster than any chitty 305. Unless you have a 350 or better count on losing to him. Sorry.

Hey 1986_19, what does your car run in the 1320? Any mods? I also wouldnt say any saturn, what about the L series with a 3.0 V6 that pushes about 180hp?

Let's not get on the subject again but it runs 15.55 and I have been running that consistently until yesterday when I ran a 15.81 when the road was a little wet

Saturns are slow, but I have seen one quick one. It was not nearly stock however, lifted the hood and behold twin turbos , I was thinkin why do that to a saturn but whatever floats ur boat. Dunno what it ran but it took donw my friends 5.0 very quickly. Not sure which engine he has but its a six .

Like ive said before, u can make any car go fast, no matter what. Yes a Saturn stock sucks, but then again so does a old Dodge Caravan, and a Dodge Neon, but if some of u have seen those videos on those cars spanking Vipers and Camaros, well then enough said

I think it will be a close race, I didn't want to say it first, cause I wasn't sure, but I say you got him.

Oh, and camaro_1986, you said you ran a 15.1 before.

LG4 w/ headers and tweaked to the max on timing and jetting will pull a 15.8 with a tail wind. I got the slip to prove it. Not exactly setting the tack on fire. I'd have to think that a Saturn is a 16 sec car too. Even the 4 banger is an evolved quad 4. It's a 2.4, longer stroke smaller bore than the 2.3 quad. I think they bump around 160 or so HP? The saturn weighs about half as much as these tanks we call F-bods. If your not careful he could embarass you. It will come down to a drivers race in my mind.

Also how do you have a Z with the poorest excuse for a V8? Did you blow the TPI and have to transplant? I'm confused here.

LG4s came standard in '87 Zs.

Chevy shouldn't have called it a Z then. Oh well, anyway, I still think it's going to be a 16 sec race.

Well, it doesn't make much difference to me, but if I were you I'd just hold off on racing for a while. Nothing sucks worse then getting busted for racing a slow car. Then you might not have ANY car and get slapped with a huge fine. This is the street racing board though. If you really want to, it's up to you, but......

Just don't wind up another statistic so cops have more amunition to keep hassling us. Whatever you do, please don't die. I've seen too many smased up car because young people couldn't handle them in a stupid *** race that should've never happened.

Just my .02

The V-6 L runs 15 flat in the 1/4. The four cylinder L is a 2.2 not a 2.4 but it is a glorified Quad Four. Look out for some of the S-series though. Most are a joke, but I built one for one of my customers that runs 14.5 in the 1/4. Not blindingly fast but respectable for a 4 cyl.

Really? I thought that all of the dual cam 4s in the Saturns were 2.4s Learn something new every day.

actually i wouldn't call the LG4 the poorest excuse for a V8, they aren't that bad of a platform to hope up a little. I know a few guys running vortec heads and a nice sized cam pulling mid 13's not too shabby, now a LU5 or a LO3 on the other hand...different story

I think Id rather have a lo3 than a LG4....Fuel injected and a roller motor. And if you set on using a carb you can put a carb on a lo3 very easily. Would be about the same cost as the lg4 because you would have to get rid of the q-jet and manifold for performance. With an lo3 you would also need to spend 100$ on a distributer and thats it.

Yep, I'll take FI over carb any day of the week. I don't know why we're having a LG4 L03 debate though. It's like arguing weather the EX or DX civic is faster. Who cares?! They're both slow as dog $hit.

well guys, my girlfriend drives a 96 115hp Saturn. Slow as hell!!! My car is ten times faster than it and look what i run. My old 95 Taurus with a 3.0 V6 beat it by a car. The have a little performance button by the shifter. Usually it's in normal, but watch out. If it gets shifted into performance, it uses up more gas and goes just as slow! Your '87 should run better than mine and destroy that Saturn.

Sorry Maro Man but your friend is full of B.S. You cannot replace the PROM on a saturn. The ECM's are sealed. I'm not saying the factory ECM could not be re-written but they would have to break the encryption and I don't think anyone has cared enough to do it with a saturn.

Saturns be slow

Most Saturns are slow from what I have experienced. I have seen one that was "nimble" at best. I believe it was a newer 3 door coupe, but it was playing a horrible sub that made the trunk raddle. My freind was next to it with his '90 Turbo Grand Prix, at a red light. I had known nothing about cars at that time, but I thought I had heard a broken fanbelt above the sound system was not sure. The light turned, my freind put the gas to the floor, and the Saturn chased, and at 75-80 they were neck and neck . They shut down because of traffic but my freind was wondering how a Saturn could keep up with him, when he runs low 15's, then I mentioned the "broken fan-belt" sound. He was surprised he had not heard that sound and then figured out how it kept up.

Take it from someone that has both a 95 Saturn and an 87 LB9 IROC, the camaro is faster. The saturn will run circles around most imports and 6 banger stangs though

Stu....what year and engine? On the Saturn. From what I have read, the 97s or 98s, I don't know which, had 100-124 horsepower. That's the 1.9L. Expect 17.3-18.0 with 100 hp and 16.2-16.9 with prayer and the 124 hp.
But, did someone mention a larger engine? I'm going to have to look farther.

O.k. I have info on the 2.2L I4. 137 hp. 16.5-17.2 on the quarter would be my guess. For what guesswork is worth. There it is.

no LG4's in 88. 87 was their last year......

you're kidding, right? its so much easier to work with a carb than TBI. not to mention TBI has a horrible aftermarket......
