Guy has a ROUSH (spelling) Stage 2 Stang

Well i raced my friend today with his 91 firebird against mine .. I won but not by as much as i thought i would have ..well im not here to talk about that just thought i would throw it in .. Well i come home early this morning from a party and as i pull in my subdivison i see a friend of my dads who lives like 3 houses down from us driving away in a Roush (spelling) Stage 2 mustang .. I have never seen one in person but i have read about them a lil bit .. are those things fast and if so do u think my dads 86 vette could at least give it a lil compition .. The vette has whole new catback exaust , cowl hood , K&N filter , comp cam and lifters , headers ..Max flow i think .. heads have been ported and polished ..perfectly tuned ..and he might have some others things done to it ... anyways i know it wouldn't beat it but do u think it would stay within 5 car lengths ha ha

There's nothing special about the Stage 2, just gfx and suspension from my knowledge. Stage 3 is the one to look out for.

Yea. Roush Stage 2 is just a pretty GT. Call the Roushes a GT and it pissed off the owners bad! :sillylol: Just say "nice Mustang GT" hehe

Edit: OH! I wouldn't advise racing the Roush in the turns. That is something they do well!

Doesn't the stage 3 cost around $54,000 around the same level as the Saleen Mustangs, which I like better.

no no you cant act like you THINK its a GT because actually its not but power wise it is. And all Roush owners HATE that fact. I mean it is a Roush and it prolly cost $35,000ish (I really don't know) but its as slow/if not slower than a plain ol GT. Just be like "Nice GT...whats that thing got? 240ish rwhp?" and try not to laungh. Especially when he tries to say it has more power than a GT. :sillylol: :sillylol:

Yes, and there is another (IMO much uglier 360R) Roush stage 3. And I think the Saleen is faster by about 20hp. Supercharged stage 3 Roush (aka 360R)....Do any of you guys know why its called the "360R"? Because it has 360hp.....................AT THE CRANK! So thats what...a supercharged Mustang that has 320rwhp? so sad. Proof once more that Mustang's SOHC design is simply a joke.

A stage two is nothing great. Sure its a Roush but so what, it just looks mean. Stage one is just ground fx and exhaust. Stage two is suspension to make it handle and bigger brakes. Watch out for stage 3 as they have a supercharger but as it was said before they still only make somewhere around 320 rwhp. I bet your dads vette could take him. Good luck if you happen to race the 'stang.

You're a complete moron. The S281E that you're always jacking off over comes with a 2V motor.

Ok dumb ***, the S281E has Saleen's own heads and cams. So none of Ford's ****ty SOHC heads. You can go ahead and stick your foot back in your mouth where it belings.

Mild porting and stronger valve springs do not make for "saleen's own heads"...they're still Ford's "****ty SOHC heads."

Idiot!

FASTLANE Team Saleen Newsletter Spring/Summer 2002 Volume 6, Number 4

"Built in-house under the watchful eye of the company's chief engineer, Neil Hannemann, and master engineer developer, Bill Tally, the 281 cubic inch (4.6-liter) engine uses a host of our very best components, including a special forged steel Saleen crankshaft, Saleen forged-steel connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, and unique Saleen aluminum cylinder heads that feature special valve springs and our latest performance camshafts..."

Nic I let the leg humping thing go because I knew you were kidding around but this truely proves you're an idiot. Might wanna bash someone on something that you KNOW.

And actually this would make for Saleen's own cylinder heads. :sillylol: If not then why can't you go to Ford's Part Dep and order you a set? Because they aren't Ford's!

So that means if I port my heads and put stronger valve springs on them they're no longer Trick Flow heads?

Came to a dead end huh Nic? Its alot easier to just agree that I'm right.

But I'll try to explain this to you. When you have a company like Saleen that totally redo the heads with valve springs, porting and polishing, and better cam shafts, idiots like you can't say that they are Ford's pos SOHC cylinder heads because they are BETTER than them. Keeping my statement right about Ford's SOHC design is about as good as running a 8 mile race on a broken foot. Oh and if they aren't Saleen's parts then why does Ford allow them to port polish, change the valve springs, put different camshafts, and stamp a SALEEN logo on them? If anyone else here agrees with Nic please speak up.

I can't believe I'm wasting my time arguing with some know-it-all punk about something so stupid...

1) the cams are not part of the heads, they just happen to sit on top of the head. Big deal, Saleen spec'd out a different set of cams than a set that was originally intended for a naturally aspirated car with a restrictive exhaust sysem. Wow! Have you ever even built an OHC motor?

2) a set of valve springs is a $70 upgrade. I can do that in my garage. Do you even know why they upgraded the valve springs?

3) they ported the heads a little, big deal. I can do that in my garage.

4) They're still the exact same casting as the regular GT heads and come off the exact same assembly line.

hence, they're still the "****ty SOHC heads" from Ford.

Keeping my statement right about Ford's SOHC design is about as good as running a 8 mile race on a broken foot
And this is why NMRA real street racers are running low 10's on unported SOHC heads with stock cams, right?

Who cares the S281 is still slow, a whole whopping 285HP, i'm sooooo scared

I'd still rather a OHV 302, but that's just me...

Me too......

I'll take a Sallen S351 over all of um'. That's just my opinion, they seem to be the most versatile and have even more room for improvement without sending the car back to Saleen.

I would take any pushrod over them, but if FORD cast the heads, they are Ford heads. The components can be any company, but if I added Trick Flow valve springs to my E7s, they are no longer Ford heads, but Trick Flows!!!

Wow Nic, I am only a couple of hundred dollers from Trick Flow heads!

And cams, even though located above the head, are not a part of the head, what makes it a companies head, is the special castings, NOT the componenets! That is why tons of GT-40 heads are sold minus the components!

Are you seeing it now Monkie? Not flaming just stating my opinion!

Well, if you are ever in my area and see a red Roush stage 2 with the plates "Stage 2" on it, don't race it or you'll have your feelings hurt. My friend Saud owns it and that is a bad car.
Shawn Hieland(sp?) Block, all forged internals, Novi2000 Blower, cams, etc... around 600rwhp. I drove it when he had the ATI Procharger on it with 523rwhp.

ANYWAYS, back to topic. We are talking about Roushes and not Saleens.

My opinion still stands that the Ford SOHC heads SUCK. Boosted atleast. Nic neither one of us can be right here I guess. If you want to be absolutely technical they are Ford heads but I am also right saying they are Saleen heads because they are modified and you cannot buy them from a Ford dealer. Now back to topic...

Saud's car is pretty nice. You ever seen my buddy Brandon's car? Most people around Va Beach seem to recognize it.

Not yet. A bolt found it's way into cyl. #3 during a head gasket change and destroyed the motor. He's in the process of collecting parts for the new motor, and after that's done it'll be getting a new paint job.

He is a moron. Ask him what all is done to it. Tell him to pop the hood. And ask him why he can smoke the tires through 4th gear with 380hp and stock gears. I can only get 1st-3rd and I have over 400hp and 4.10 gears. WITH ****TY TIRES

EDIT: 1st - 4th RIGHT!!!!! He must have spare tires on when he does that!!!!!!!! Maybe he does that in the rain?? In that case I can go from 1st all the way to 5th!!!!
