Theoretical: 98 Cavy Z24 vs. 89 Civic SI

While my Camaro is down, this dude from work wants to race me in my Z24. My car is stock with the exception of a CAI, and has 90k miles on it. He has an 89 Civic SI, bone stock, 150k miles. My car stock has 150 horses, 155 lb/ft. Who will win? It's only a 1/8 mi race.

Yeah, you should do good...BUT...the 89 SI only weighs like 1800lbs...or some crazy number like that...

I raced this one guy with an 89Si and he "claimed" to be stock...I don't know..but he said he was...and we were side by side until 90 when we ran out of road.

That was in my 2000 Cavalier Z24 that ran a 15.4 at the track last time...and should be running about a 15.0 now (I raced him with these new mods)

So you may loose...but who knows...

Thanks for the replies. By the time we race I should have my flowmaster catback on too. We've got a little bet going on now; loser has to wear a dress to work the next day.

There's no way that Civic was stock if it stayed even with your z24. He probably had a bunch of mods to it and was pissed that he couldn't beat you. haha.

So the Z24 and Sunfire GT run 15's stock? Does a Sunfire 4dr with the 2.4 have the same gears as a GT? Just wondering cause my friend has one (an auto) and we raced from about 55-115 and I pulled half a car length right away, then held it there until the top of 3rd I had him by about a car length and a half and was still pulling. I think around town he'd beat me off the line but from a slight roll I think I'd kill him. I figured my car would only be a mid 16's at best. What do you think?
