305 TPI vs Laser RS

A guy i work with just bought a stock 1990 or 91 Turbo Laser RS with a 5 speed. I think the trubo lasers have 190hp just like my car, and weigh like 600 pounds less than my car.. so what do you think my chances are? He cant drive it very well yet and i have way more torque.Right now all i have is free mods, A/c delete, A.I.R. Delete, Cat Delete, and a Gutted Airbox. So should i race him now or wait a few weeks until i get my headers and ypipe?
thx

I think it'll be close. Is the laser AWD or FWD? If its AWD I think he'll take you because he can launch like a raped ape. But you say he can't drive, so that helps you a lot. My friend ran a 16.7 with his talon tsi, then went to the track a month later with no mods and ran a 14.7, so driving plays a big part. But with headers and exhaust I think you can easily take him.

Dude that should be close , my first car was a 93 gst and that sucker was pretty quick , its the same as a laser but mine had 210 hp. Plus my exhaust .I ran 14.9 when it needed a tune up. But then again I had a 305 IROC for like 3 months and it was about as fast as my eclipse I never clocked it though. So it should be pretty close. Go with him for no money first. GOOD LUCK

It will be a quick car, but it is FWD. The Laser RS didnt come with AWD till 92.

Edmunds show the early '90 Turbo Lasers running very low 15 second quarter mile times. It should be a good race.

Hey IROCaholic, it's just a site that lists different vehicles with their 0-60 times and quarter mile times. Check it out.
