another WRX goes down to the vette tonight. even got a witness! Jim aka MDForumla350 and his friends in a ford explorer.

we ran from a 50 roll definetly not in my sweet spot. at 50 mph i'm at about 1800 rpms. we go to about 70's. i only inch out until he shifts. then i pulled about 1/2 car length on him thru 2 of his shifts. i ran in 2nd gear only this run.

next run we do it again but from a 5 mph roll all the way up to 95 mph. he only fell back to my rear quarter. i was pretty impressed with this one and how my vette is wakening up with the basic mods i have done.

we pulled over at a 7-11 and talked and he said it ran a 13.5 but then he says he was only at 12.5 lbs of boost and could of turned it up to 18 lbs and at 18 lbs he ran the 13.5 i had to ask him if his boost was cranked up on the 13.5 run. personally i think he was talking some chit but it was a good run. one of the closest i've had in a long time!

lol

WRX = subaru impreza. not your typical r1ce burner.

AWD 2.0-Liter, High Output, H4, 16-Valve, DOHC, SEFI, Turbocharged Engine, Front/Longitudinal Mounted With Horsepower Of 227@6000, Torque Of 217@4000, Aluminum-Alloy Block and Aluminum-Alloy Cylinder Heads

yah that about sums it up....

*EDIT*

oh yah...it only weighs 3000 lbs.

damn that must be a quick little car to keep up with a vette even if your vette is mostly stock!

it definitely had the boost up alot, you could hear the turbo screaming through the exhaust from behind u guys.

That was a pretty good run, he even put up his rear windows to run you. That WRX was screaming, we couldn't even hear your car.

They can be quick little cars..i know I own one as my daily driver now. My best run to date is a 13.5 and with tuning i'm hoping for low 13's. If he said he's running 18 psi either he has an uprgraded turbo/fuel system or he was bsing you. Cause the stock turbo doesn't make power efficiently after 16 psi or so. It just blows hot air and you get fuel cut from the stock ECU. If you think you weren't in your sweet spot..he was in his worst spot. WRX's are not highway speed racers. From a dig he would have given you an even better run assuming he knows how to launch. With that said..Nice Kill!

who needs a wrx when you have an s10

My s10 is 4x4 and I have taken it through a foot of snow last winter here in pa. This summer i have taken down sh*tstangs and anything else that comes my way. I have done this for a lot less money than buying a POS wrx.

he was an older guy around my age (30) and that thing screamed loud. i can't really say what he has done i'm just saying what he told me. i seriously wouldn't doubt that he upgraded the turbo and intercooler. i don't think they come stock with boost controllers do they?

BTW there is hardly anything stock around here...

thanks man it's good to be back on the boards. And i didn't trade my firehawk per say..I sold it for some personal reasons. Mainly I got really tight on money and it isn't a cheap car to have. I bought the WRX which is easier on my wallet..it's NOT a POS and it's a practical everyday car. And my heart just wasn't into the 4th gen..I'm in the works of putting together a thirdgen project car right now. I've got an 86 Z28 that I'm thinking of buying and building up over the winter as my project. And the WRX stock does have a factory boost controller but it can only be adjusted via the ECU or by manipulating the vaccuum lines running to it. But if he had an upgraded turbo and such i'm sure he was running some kind of engine management.
