Vert vs. Cavalier
This dude at my school has a Cavalier with a fartcannon and some colored wire looms and other obsolete things to try and make some girls like him or something. But he's pretty cool. He wants to race just to see what he can do, and I said that next summer I would race him and I was wondering if I'm going to smack him or is he going to hang with me?
Its a 2.2L I think, I know its the smallest engine available for that car.

The only way you could lose this would be to stomp your pedal and sit & spin while he gets a good start. Check out " lost to V-tec" on this board, there is some good advice in the replys on how to leave the line.

I used to beat my roomates ald Z24 with the 2.4 twin cam(150 hp). That new 2.2 makes 140 and you should beat it with ease.

You are gonna laugh at this maybe, but I used to have a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Z22-R with a 5-speed and no options except CD... I raced my friends with a 305 88 GTA with an auto transmission and I was in front until maybe 120km/h after that he begin to pass me... We tried many times at differents places, still the same results. I don't know if my Cav was special or I am an awesome driver with a manual car...
Later when I've got ride of this car, I have bought a 88 GTA with a 305 too, with more mileage than his GTA, but I was handing him his ***... He says it was because he was all stock but with 3.73 gears, that he needed to mods some more stuff to take full effect of his gears. Mine was bone stock too but with the original 3.27...

Your friend just doesn't know how to keep his car up. See thats the problem when you got these 15 year old cars running around and they get passed from owner to owner and no one takes care of them right. So there are tons of 305 and 350 cars out there that do not come close to running their potential. People just think oooohhh a pointy nose car must be fast, or so and so has a 305 and its running mid 14's so mine runs mid 14's because I have a 305 also. There can be lots of variation from car to car. State of tune, how often the oil was changed in its life, condition of parts and suspension pieces way to many factors.
