92 RS vs 87 Monte Carlo

My friend has been talking so highly of his 87 Monte Carlo. I got sick of him talking so I chose to finally race him. Then he got scared because he wasnt ready for me to ask.

We got to the road and let this kid out to skate. He was the one that was going to say 123 Go!.

He counted down and when he said go, i sat there for like 3 seconds,(being cocky) while he was Flooring it

I thought I was being too cocky so i Gassed it and after a little bit I Owned him like nothing. Wasnt even close. I guess i should of gave him more of a handicap.

I just needed to tell you guys that little story. Makes me feel good about my stock car.

Whats he got the 4.3?

Seriously if its an LG4/L69, then he should have walked you pretty decently. The LG4/L69 platform is better in opinion because their heads dont suck nearly as badas the TBI heads.

Anyways good kill

That sounds about right. The 416 heads found on that motor are better than TBI heads but the LO3 has a bigger cam and the 3rd gen is lighter. Those montes aren't fast at all.

OK #1... I think you may want to check the weight of the average 3rd gen with GFX, as a stock Monte SS and the average 3rdgen are pretty much on the same page weight wise, I've went through this many times before...

#2... Was this a Monte, or a Monte SS??? Stock for stock the SS L69 will take the blaw LO3 all day long in stock form.

#3... Yes the Monte "SS's" Weren't as fast as they should have been, but in stock from with a good driver, most of them could and would pull off a low 15, and even a high 14 with ideal conditions, The average 3rdgen with the LO3 is lucky to get high 15's to a low 15's on a good day. Did it done it got the T-Shirt.

Not trying to be a smart ***, just stating the facts

Thanks for the weight clarifications. I base most of what I said off personal experiences and watching the cars at my local track. That doesn't mean that all cars behave at all tracks that way, so perhaps I should have stated that differently. Typically I don't see the SS montes beating many stock 3rd gens.

He couldn't have been racing a monte SS. They run mid to low 15's in good shape. If he really gave him a 3 second headstart and it was an SS he would have a 12 second stock 305 tbi.

Both of our cars are stock. He claims the person that had it before him installed some good headers, i didnt notice a difference.

It is an SS. I think his car is beutiful, but he talks so much crap.

His excuses were.

"I had it in OverDrive, so there was no pickup"

"My oil pressure is madd low" (Meanwhile my camaro's oil pressure is in the red almost near 0 at idle )

"My choke is broken"

Im not sure if he has issues with his car, but it was pretty amazing.

All i have is Super Stock Spark plug wires. Haha
