question about 98 trans am
im not really sure where to post this so if its in the wrong place, the mods please move it.
anyway theres a guy in my area on craigslist selling a 98 trans am (ls1 6spd w/ 99k miles, t-tops, etc.) for $3800. This sounds VERY fishy to me...it says in the title of the ad that it is a Pro-Street car. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this means? In the pictures it has drag radials on the back and some small wheels all around if that means anything?
oh and he posted the vin so if someone has carfax maybe they can run it for me pretty please???
it says it has 15 records for this particular car's vin:

i messaged him about 4 or 5 hours ago and he still hasn't responded...i guess that's a bad sign or he just doesn't check his email more than once a day.

the wheels are called slicks and skinnys.
Most likely it's just the body of an LS1 car that was used for pro-street classes (racing classes that they go quite fast in). That would fit with the slicks/skinnys. I'd say it probably doesn't have an engine or transmission, and the interior is probably gutted.
a bone stock 98 T/A with 99k miles should be in the $9k-$11k range depending on condition. In some areas it will be worth considerably less however, that's what they go for around here.

I agree with urban, probably just a body. I highly doubt you'll catch a complete car for 3800 bucks. Unless it's a total junker.

I just ran that VIN# in my system and it's comming up legit. RPO codes register it as Trans Am with 5.7 LS1, 6 spd (3.42's), t-tops, Trans Am pkg (Y82), leather interior, AC, yada yada.
If it hasn't been in an accident, or gutted to heck, I'd say it's well worth the $3800
