Mustang Dusted!!!
Not even 24 hours after having my hsr on the firebird, a mustang still with 30 day tags on it pulled next to me at a light and the guy stared at me. I looked at him and I was like umm ok dont know if im gonna win but what the hell. He wasnt revving at the light to launch so i kept it in first gear, he tried flooring it past me and i laid on the throttle and pulled on it. not a walk but a nice pull. from about 10 mph roll to 55, i had his front bumper at my rear bumper. i was estatic!!! now this was a mustang before they went with the retro look. GT with exhaust dont know about anything else. judging by my mods and if anybody knows what they run stock or with cat back alone and how much i as winning by, what do yall think i run?

Its good to hear that You whooped that "Piece of Crap" with your "16 year old car'!!! It seems that You should be running somewhere around a very low 14 or maybe a very high 13.

I know this for a fact a Hsr will not do you any good on a stock motor with a stock tune, In fact I've seen dyno results showing the same hp output an even a little less. But with a custom chip it has made over 30 more hp on a stock motor.

Depends on his mods... a 99-04 GT bone stock is a low 14s car (could be high 13s with a driver) and with exhaust (depends on what is meant by exhaust) should be a solid high 13 second car. Now with full exhaust, gears, tune and such could be much faster. Your best bet is to dyno it, or take it to a track, not much you can go by other than its faster than that car (which in theory should be a higher 13 second car).

Here's the deal.
Most 3rd geners are afraid to run stangs because, well, they think most of them are fast
.
But seriously, most of them are "show and no go", kinda like those Honda's with the fart cans.
OOOhhhh the sound of that Mushtang.

Hahah love this reply... Come to my area... I will line you up with no less than 15 Mustangs that will crush your hopes and dreams (15 that will stomp my car into the ground as well). Im talking MINIMUM 15 cars that will make my MID 12 second passes (stock parts) look like childs play...

My friend just bought a 89 completely stock almost mint GT mustang 5 speed well it does have a flowmaster. He let me test drive it to see what I thought I didn't have the heart to tell him I think that was one of the slowest V8's I have ever driven. I swear I think my iroc when it was stock w/305TPI could hang with or beat that car. I guess I'm just too use to driving my 95 bird.
25th don't be too fast to hit on Freestylzz just yet. I'm from his neck of the woods and I've seen plenty of cars that would easily make your mid 12 second pass look like you were parked. His car isn't a slow car either with that 383 stroker sitting between the fenders. I have no idea what power he makes though...
I've taken a few fox bodies with my old 305 TPI motor that just had exhaust and CAI. As long as the TPI motor is healthy, it's a pretty stealthy.

Yeah but then it comes back to the point that for every car there is another one faster....thats anywhere you go.

Im saying if you think they are mostly all show no go, you must live in a pathetic area... Where I live this isnt true.
Im not saying my mid 12s are anything great. In todays standards it isnt. But for whats done to my car it does pretty good, and to me right now thats all that matters. Not to mention I have 12 psi coming this winter... Mid 200 rwhp will be no more, and mid 12s will be with 3 missed shifts and street tires! If I wanted to just go fast I would have spent my money elsewhere, but I chose different things to spend money on!

First off, I drive an f-body (3rd gen) and this IS a 3rd gen site. Second, there are fast cars of any brand out there in any city or town. But.. if you wanna talk reality, (and again we're talking 3rd gen on a 3rd gen site)
in the late 80's-early 90's, Mustangs were the best bang for the buck, period. On the used car musclecar lot, Mustangs are the best bang for the buck. You can pick a nice 5.0 LX for a handshake, and go spend a few bucks (the aftermarket is ENORMOUS for Stangs, much more than the GM twins) on aftermarket goodies, and your a rocket. I think that all they're good for is straight line runs, but they do it VERY WELL!!! Why do you think it was always Buick GN vs Mustang shootout at the tracks? (Englishtown had events to this purpose) Because you could tweek a GN and go like hell. And you could throw some bolt-ons on a Stang and do the same. The GM twins took alot more money to go as fast. The later Stangs dogged a bit, but Ford got the act togeather, and the aftermarket was ALWAYS there for them.
The statement "all show and no go"??? is a bit naive, to say the least. There are alot of fast 3rd gens out there. But ALOT MORE stangs out there.

I agree with Buddy on this one. The market is made for mustangs but it always comes down to personal preference. Personally, I'd take either car. I like them the same but my GTA just caught my eye better and seemed to be all around better car for what I wanted to do with it. Always been an F-body fan and my dad owning 3 late 2nd gen Camaro's helped. But for the most part, if I found a mustang for a good price I'd totally go for it. I almost had one before I bought my bird...'89 coupe 5.0, primer black and lowered. Looked really nice..

You probably have a high 13 sec car.
