What could a 3.1 automatic with headers, cam, and ported head work beat? any ideas? Just corius

 

It'd probably give my winter beater a run for it's money. It's the most ultimate grandma car of them all. An 89 buick century CUSTOM(woot woot). Oh and probably some 4cyl cars. Just don't go racing a GTP or something and expect to win just cause it's a v6 also. Oh and unless you've also bought the cam already, don't get it, just buy some NAWSSS, and then earn your car some respect.

Sorry if i come off as a jerk, it's just your car doesn't have too much motor to begin with. So camming and stuff isn't really cost effective.

 

Probably a safe bet it would beat my unmodded 3.1 1992 RS.

 

Well, my totally stock 2.8L 5-speed could beat a few things... Early 90's Nissan Sentra, mid-90's 4-banger Ford Ranger, Early 90's Buick Century, My friend's sneaker express, A greyhound bus, etc...

Seriously, the first three I actually won... and I'm mostly sure I could take the other two...

 

my modded 3.2 six cylinder. spanks lots of 5.0 stangs, it even runs even with lt1 cars.. then again its not a thirdgen its a 97 m3 bimmer.

You could run my Audi, but I don;t know if you would beat it. My sister used to have a 6cyl Mustang vert you might take, but she has a 94 GT now. Other than those, not much at my house (maybe the Blazer?)

I wouldn't knock it. My old '89 Century with the 3.3L was faster stock for stock than my stock LO3 at the time. At 160 hp and 185 lb-ft in a 2700lb package I surprised quite a few cars at stoplights. Sure it handled like a paper plate in a tornado but in a straight line it hauled.

 

Honestly a 3.1 with head and cam work plus a full exhaust might run pretty good. You should get track times for it, also what gears are you running? You need some steep ones for that little guy (4.10's cough cough) and gut the SNOT out of it you'll probably surprise yourself with what it'll run.
